A Cure for What Ails You

I was feeling groggy and cranky this afternoon, nursing a headache and a bad case of there’s-nothing-to-eat-in-the-house.
I was messing around the computer and came across a recipe for rice congee I’d bookmarked a while ago. A light bulb went on. There is plenty of rice in the house, and rice congee is an excellent tonic for feeling out-of-sorts.

If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, this would be it. Good thing that’s true, since now I have about five dozen of them in my house.
Bento #6: Mapo Tofu

Here’s the long-overdue photo of last week’s Mapo Tofu bento. It unfortunately looks like a chunky brown mess even though it tasted great. Some chopped scallions, peas, or red peppers would have added some much-needed color.
