Food. I Like It. You Like It Too.

My name is Yvonne, and I like food. I like to read about it, grow it, cook it, and most of all, eat it. This blog will be about all of that and more!
I’ve been blogging since the internet was powered by dinosaurs running on giant hamster wheels (that’s 2001, in case you were wondering) and currently maintain active blogs at CogKnition, where I blog about knitting, crocheting, and sewing, and Chipanglish, where my blogmates and talk about (and in) a lot of different languages.
I’ve only been cooking seriously for a few years. I learned the basics in the kitchen with my mother while I was growing up, but mostly stuck to simple things like stir fries until I went to grad school and got a real kitchen of my own (the tiny thing you could barely turn around in from my college apartment does not count).
These are the kinds of things I branched out into:

- Hearty Garlic Potato Soup, Cook’s Illustrated March/April 2007
- Deep-Fried Stuffed Eggplant, Dim Sum: The Art of Chinese Tea Lunch
- Chicken Tikka Masala, Fine Cooking October 2006
- Garlicky Shrimp with Bread Crumbs, also Cook’s Illustrated March/April 2007
On this blog, I’ll be talking about recipes I’ve tried and other foodie things from the perspective of a fairly novice home cook. Readers are encouraged to add to the foodie fray with advice, questions, and recipes. I’m always on the prowl for something delicious that someone with dismal knife skills can actually make in 30 minutes. *coughRACHAELRAYcough*
Welcome to the Gustatory Circuit. Bon appetit!
